This past Sunday night, we started "digging deeper" into the spiritual discipline of fasting.  This comes as a result of what we believe God is doing right now in the midst of our church family, calling us to lay a foundation of prayer for revival.  Sunday morning, we began a sermon series from Nehemiah entitled A Time to Build.  (Our home page includes a sermon player to listen to those sermons.)  In Nehemiah chapter 1, Nehemiah "mourned and fasted and prayed" for several days.

The purpose of this series of Bible studies is to gain a greater understanding of fasting so that God can use that as a tool for revival here at First Baptist.  The first study is a brief (and far from exhaustive) look at the New Testament foundation for fasting.  In the second session, we plan to include practical advice for how to fast (and how NOT to fast).
